How To Activate Wifi Direct On Iphone

Wi-Fi Direct allows you to configure a secured wireless network between your machine and a mobile device without using a router.

Note You can use a Wi-Fi Direct connection along with a separate infrastructure connection (Wired or Wireless depending on your machine). Wi-Fi direct can't be used with an Ad-Hoc connection.

If Wi-Fi Direct is not listed in the menu of your machine, click here for instructions on how to reset your machine's network card.

1. There are several ways to configure a Wi-Fi Direct connection based on what is supported by your mobile device. Choose one of these methods:

Manual configuration

a. Press ▲ or ▼ to display Network and then press OK .b. Press ▲ or ▼ to display Wi-Fi Direct and then press OK .

c. Press ▲ or ▼ to display Manual and then press OK.

d. If the LCD displays: Wi-Fi Direct On?, press ▼ (On).

e. The machine will show the network name and password for 2 minutes. Go to the wireless network settings on your mobile device and connect to this network name using this password. For instructions refer to your mobile device's guide. Go to

step 2.

One push configuration using Wi-Fi Direct

a. Press ▲ or ▼ to display Network and then press OK .b. Press ▲ or ▼ to display Wi-Fi Direct and then press OK .

c. The LCD should display Push button. Press OK.

d. If the LCD displays: Wi-Fi Direct On?, press ▼ (On).

e. When prompted, activate Wi-Fi Direct on your mobile device and then press OK. For instructions refer to your mobile device's guide.

f. Do one of the following:

- If your Brother machine is the

G/O (Group Owner), your mobile device will try to connect to the machine directly.

- If your Brother machine is not the

G/O (Group Owner), the machine will display available device names to configure a Wi-Fi Direct network with. Press ▲ or ▼ to select the mobile device you want to connect to and then press OK. Go to step 2.

Note You can search for available devices by choosing Rescan .

One push configuration using WPS (Wi-Fi Protected Setup)

a. Press ▲ or ▼ to display Network and then press OK .b. Press ▲ or ▼ to display Wi-Fi Direct and then press OK .

c. Press ▲ or ▼ to display Group Owner and then press OK .

d. Press ▲ or ▼ to display On and then press OK.

e. You will be back on the previous menu, press ▲ or ▼ to displayPush Button and then press OK.

f. If the LCD displays: Wi-Fi Direct On?, press ▼ (On).

g. When prompted, activate Wi-Fi Direct on your mobile device and then press OK. For instructions refer to your mobile device's guide. Go to

step 2.

Configuration using Wi-Fi Direct w/ PIN

a. Press ▲ or ▼ to display Network and then press OK .b. Press ▲ or ▼ to display Wi-Fi Direct and then press OK .

c. Press ▲ or ▼ to displayPIN Code and then press OK.

d. If the LCD displays: Wi-Fi Direct On?, press ▼ (On).

e. When prompted, activate Wi-Fi Direct on your mobile device and then press OK. For instructions refer to your mobile device's guide.

f. Do one of the following:

- If your Brother machine is the

G/O (Group Owner), the machine will wait for a connection request from your mobile device. When [Input PIN Code] appears, enter the PIN displayed on your mobile device into the machine and then press OK. Go to step 2.

If the PIN is displayed on your Brother machine, enter it into your mobile device.

- When your Brother machine is not the

g. Do one of the following:

- Press ▼ (Display) to display the PIN on your Brother machine and then input the PIN into your mobile device and then press OK. After entering the PIN, go to

step 2.

- Press ▲ (Input) to input a PIN shown by your mobile device into the Brother machine and then press OK. After entering the PIN, go to

step 2.

Configuration using WPS w/ PIN

e. You will be back on the previous menu, press ▲ or ▼ to display Pin Code and then press OK.

f. If the LCD displays: Wi-Fi Direct On?, press ▼ (On).

g. When prompted, activate WPS with PIN on your mobile device and then press OK. For instructions refer to your mobile device's guide.

h. The machine will wait for a connection request from your mobile device. When PIN Code appears, enter the PIN displayed on your mobile device into the machine and then press OK. Go to

step 2.

2. If the LCD states Connected , then your mobile device had connected successfully. You may print using the Brother iPrint&Scan app for your mobile device. Set the Brother machine as the Group Owner (G/O)

If you set Group Owner to On, your Brother machine serves as an access point when you configure a Wi-Fi Direct network. The G/O assigns a network name, password and IP address for the Wi-Fi Direct network. The default setting is Off.

a.Press ▲ or ▼ to display Network, and then press OK.

b.Press ▲ or ▼ to display Wi-Fi Direct, and then press OK. Note If Wi-Fi Direct is not listed, click here for instructions on how to reset your machine's network card.

c. Press ▲ or ▼ to display Group Owner, and then press OK.

d. Press ▲ or ▼ to display On, and then press OK.
